What are contact lenses?

Among the many options, contact lenses can be grouped into two types based on the material they are made from:

  1. Those made from rigid materials, which include hard lenses (non-permeable) and semi-rigid gas-permeable lenses (GP lenses). These lenses contain some water, allow oxygen to pass through, and are classified according to their permeability levels and design.
  2. Soft lens family: made from hydrated material, primarily defined by thickness, water content, permeability, and wettability.

And they can be classified as:

  • Depending on the replacement and usage period, they are categorized as daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
  • Depending on the prescription, they can be spherical, toric, bifocal, or multifocal.
  • They can also be cosmetic, tinted, therapeutic, etc.

Consult with our Optician-Optometrist for more information. We’ll be happy to help you choose the option that best suits your needs and lifestyle.

Contact Lens Fitting Service

At InterOptics, we don’t want to compromise our patients’ visual health, which is why we take great care in fitting contact lenses that best suit each individual according to their unique visual parameters and lifestyles. In our store, we perform the necessary tests to ensure a proper, comfortable, and safe contact lens fitting for your eyes.

Our adaptation is the result of a complex process, which begins with a thorough optometric examination conducted by the Optician-Optometrist:

First, it is necessary to update the prescription and check the visual acuity of each eye, so we begin with a refractive exam. At the same time, the parameters of the anterior pole (corneal radii, visible iris diameter, pupil diameter, etc.) will be measured, and a thorough examination of the same will be conducted.

Next, the quantity and quality of the tear film will be assessed, the overall ocular health will be examined (including the palpebral conjunctiva, conjunctival vascularization, glands and eyelid margins, eyelashes, etc.), and the fluorescein staining (an image obtained by instilling fluorescein into the eye) will be studied to evaluate corneal integrity and tear drainage.

Helping you choose the right contact lenses is very important to us, so our optometrist will evaluate your case: your needs, lifestyle, how often and for how long you want to wear your lenses, whether there is any specific activity for which you wish to use them, etc. Only after gathering all the necessary information will the Optician-Optometrist select, based on their judgment and the fitting proposal, the most suitable lens for your case and proceed with the trial.

Before you leave the optical store with your trial lenses, we will teach you how to properly insert and remove them from your eyes, and we will provide you with all the necessary advice for the correct use and handling of contact lenses.

And finally, the Optician-Optometrist will provide usage guidelines and clearly inform you about the schedule and mandatory periodic check-ups that will be carried out both to complete the fitting process and for future replacements. It is vital to attend these appointments.

Precautions during use:

  • Wash your hands before handling the lenses, both when inserting and removing them.
  • Follow the instructions provided with the cleaning solutions and replace the lens cases frequently.
  • We recommend that you always use maintenance solution purchased from optical stores or pharmacies.
  • Never use tap water to store or rinse your lenses or the lens case.
  • Do not use contact lenses for sleeping unless your contact lens specialist approves it. The design and material of the contact lenses are crucial factors for this type of use.
  • It is not recommended to swim while wearing contact lenses. Talk to your contact lens specialist about the possibility of using daily disposable lenses and protective goggles.
  • Always replace your contact lenses as recommended.
  • Do not use your contact lenses during periods of seasonal allergies.
  • If you experience discomfort with your contact lens, remove it and rinse it with multipurpose solution or saline solution. If the discomfort continues when you reinsert it, remove the lens permanently and consult your contact lens specialist.
  • Attend your regular check-ups with your optician-optometrist, no excuses.

Optical shops are legally authorized healthcare establishments for the sale of contact lenses. This means that the medical device law, which ensures that your health is not at risk with the products you buy, has entrusted the sale of contact lenses to professionals who know whether or not using them is good for you.

Contact lenses are becoming easier to use and are more comfortable, versatile, and affordable than ever before. Because of all these factors, numerous online stores have emerged where it is possible to buy contact lenses without proper quality control and without a safe fitting for the patient.

In At Interoptics, we want to raise awareness about the importance of caring for and protecting your visual health. For us, it’s not about just selling contact lenses, but about fitting them to you and improving your quality of life. In our establishment, in addition to carrying out careful work to ensure the best fit and avoid any unforeseen issues that could lead to a bad experience, we are always available for any questions or concerns you may have. Furthermore, we offer all our clients the routine check-ups recommended by vision professionals, as well as breakage or defect insurance at no additional cost.

Your vision and your eyes change, and so do the contact lenses you need.

Don’t take chances—put yourself in the hands of vision professionals. Your visual health is priceless.
