Did you know that more than 8 million people drive with poor vision in Spain? Did you know that 25% of road accidents are related to vision problems such as glare, reaction capacity, lack of peripheral vision, etc.?

During holiday periods, road travel increases exponentially, both in number, distance and duration. At Interoptics we want you to enjoy the journey and be safe at all times, so here are some tips to make your vacations perfect!

  1. Before leaving, it passes the visual MOT.

Make an appointment at your optical center for a complete visual examination. In the same way that you tune up your vehicle, it is important to check that our vision has not suffered important changes.

  1. Wear sunglasses and, if you wear corrective lenses, make sure they are prescription lenses.

There are many people who, despite wearing prescription glasses, do not have prescription sunglasses. Be careful because with sunglasses we not only avoid glare but they must also provide us with the necessary visual correction. Another option is to combine the use of neutral sunglasses with contact lenses, thus covering both needs!

  1. Avoid driving at night.

Did you know that during the night we lose 70% of our visual acuity? That means that we lose our ability to see things clearly and our reaction time. If you have no choice, we recommend that you make the necessary stops every two hours, rest well and moderate your speed to the maximum.

  1. Always carry a spare pair of glasses.

Don’t let an unforeseen event such as the breakage of your glasses spoil your vacation. Remember to always have a spare pair of glasses with an updated prescription to be able to return to the wheel with maximum guarantees.

  1. Don’t run!

Speed affects the field of view. At high speeds it is reduced up to 75º. The faster we go, the less peripheral vision we have, so the risk increases. Remember that the important thing is to get there.

  1. Rest, you should be fresh.

Rest is essential. Don’t let the desire to get there cloud your judgment. Rest well, organize your trip with the necessary stops and enjoy the journey.

And last but not least, I hope you will be happy, enjoy your loved ones and have a wonderful vacation!
